Welcome to my Roadmap to a Championship program, Roadie!

I am so glad you are here. This program is designed to give you a clear, specific plan for taking your new show prospect from wherever you are now, to a breed championship. Certainly, the skills you learn in this program can take you further, it really depends on where YOU want to go.

Let me start by telling you a little bit about myself. I have been working with animals professionally since the mid 1980s. I have worked as a professional dog trainer and behavior consultant, veterinary technician, pet groomer, raptor handler, parrot trainer and behavior consultant and even dog walker and pet sitter.

I started competing with my dogs in the late 1980s with my first dog as adult. Boris was a young, male Rottweiler and the dog who really started me on my journey of competing with my dogs. I titled Boris in obedience and then started playing around in mixed breed conformation. A few years later, my close friend asked me to get a Border Terrier with her. We co-owned Scurry and played around with her in the show ring.

Eventually, I fell in love with Dachshunds and decided to get a standard smooth dog to show. Slater was my first show dog. I finished him owner handled and he completed his CD in obedience with multiple placements at all breed shows.

The past few years, I completely restructured my business from all manners of dog training and behavior consulting, to strictly working with show dogs. I do some in person teaching and coaching, but the majority of my work is online. I also travel around the country teaching workshops on training, handling and presenting show dogs.

The goal for this program is for me to be able to give you a very clear and specific plan or roadmap for attaining a championship on your dog. Of course, you are responsible for assessing your individual dog’s quality. In other words, even with all the training, coaching and work we will be doing in this program, you still need a quality animal that is structurally and temperamentally correct for the breed in order to be successful and competitive.

I have designed the program to have a comfortable and easy flow that will allow you to move from lesson to lesson. While you sometimes may need to jump around to work on a specific piece, I recommend you do your best to move through things in order. Remember, that I am here to guide you and if you have any questions or concerns, just ask me and we will work through it together.

Congratulations on taking this step! Let’s get started!
